Three of four peregrine falcon eggs have hatched in the perch occupied by Clara and Carlos, the falcon couple who have made their home atop the San Jose City Hall tower.
Tuesday morning the falcons were seen via the city's web cam feeding the newborn chicks their first meal: regurgitated pigeon.
The fourth egg is expected to hatch within the next few days, according to mayoral spokeswoman Michelle McGurk.
San Josechildren interested in helping name the falcon chicks can go to www.sanjoseca.gov/mayor and click on the "Name that Falcon" banner for information on this year's naming contest.
Clara and Carlos have been incubating a clutch of four eggs atop the 18-story tower at San Jose City Hall since the middle of March.
Last year, Clara and her former mate Jose drew international attention via webcam when they produced three eggs that hatched into chicks.
Following a contest among San Jose school children, the chicks were named Esperanza, Hiko and Spirit.
